Technology

ExCulture is developing an animal-free approach to producing heparin-like material from bio-based secondary feedstocks.

Our process is designed to convert biowaste-derived input streams into crude extracellular matrix material containing sulfated glycosaminoglycans, including heparin-like structures. Through downstream processing, this material can be further purified into a defined product.

Bio-based input streams

We work with secondary feedstocks as a starting point for producing complex biopharmaceutical materials without animal-derived sources.

Direct processing approach

Our technology focuses on processing biowaste-derived material directly, without relying on fermentation as the core production route.

Toward purified material

The process combines upstream and downstream steps to move from crude extracellular matrix material toward purified heparin-like product fractions.
